Position: Community-Based Market Researcher

Location: Haines Junction, Yukon
Type: Part-Time, Casual on-call (approximately 1-4 hours per week)
Starting: ASAP (July and August 2024, with possibility of extension)
Wage: $35/hr

Sha Shäw Corporation is a partner in community development within the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Traditional Territory.
Position Overview
The Community-Based Market Researcher will play an important role in conducting market research through 1:1 or small group interviews with residents within traditional territory. This position aims to gather valuable insights from our community to support SSC’s development of robust business cases for upcoming projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about community engagement and possesses strong listening and recording skills.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Interviews: Facilitate 1:1 or small group interviews with community members to collect data on community needs, preferences, and opinions related to SSC projects. Interviews will happen at various times during the day/week based on the availability of participants.
Data Collection & Analysis: Gather, record, and assist in the interpretation of interview data to identify trends and insights.
Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with interviewees to encourage participation and trust in the market research process.
Writing: Prepare accurate notes summarizing findings.
Collaboration: Work closely with SSC team members, including project managers and contractors to meet project objectives.
Ethical Conduct: Ensure all research activities comply with SSC research standards and respect the privacy and confidentiality of participants. SSC upholds the First Nations Principles of OCAP.
Qualifications
Experience:
Previous experience in community-based research or equivalent work experience may be considered.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong writing abilities.
Good knowledge of the Dakwakada/Haines Junction community
Attributes:
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Empathetic and respectful approach to engaging with community members.
